SUMMER SUNSHINE IN A SLANT BOX!

Hello friends!

Just when I was feeling VERY sad about summer ending and the back-to-school frenzy beginning, THIS arrived on my porch to
boost my mood!

Throughout the months of June and July, I have had the pleasure of participating in the SLANT Box Exchange hosted by Jameson over at
Lessons With Coffee.

Each month she organizes a themed event and matches bloggers up to be
"pen pals."

Emily over at Munchkins Inc.

 and

have become my newest teacher-author friends during this short period of time. I have truly enjoyed getting to know them better through our exchange of friendly e-mails!  Be sure to visit their sites and become their newest followers!

The theme for our summer SLANT Boxes was "sunshine," so shopping for goodies to surprise Emily with was a real treat!  Numerous adventures to Michael's, Hobby Lobby, Target, and the Dollar Tree did not disappoint, and her care package is en route as I type this!  Think all things bright green and turquois blue, with a sprinkling of polka dots and you've got a good idea of what's inside!  I can't wait for her to open it!

The box that Heidi prepared especially for me spoke to the "hippie chick" in my heart and soul.  It made me do a "happy dance" when it arrived!  This is what I found I carefully wrapped and brightly post-it noted inside....

Lovely jewelry to wear with the new dress I bought for Open House, as well as a beach-beaded bracelet to make!  I am hiding my beautiful chevron-striped scarf from my fashionista daughter so that I get the chance to wear it first!

A "flower power" clipboard to hold all of my to-do lists, stickers for
student birthday bags, and music to help my
second graders move-and-groove when they've got to shake their sillies out!

A fun novel to enjoy at pool side when I need a break from getting my classroom ready!  Only two more weeks until I meet my new crew!  Yikes!

Magnifying glasses that my students will "bug out" over when it is time for Science, brightly-colored snack bags for when I need to crunch-and-munch my worries away, and the word that describes the way
I feel about Heidi's generosity!

In the words of one of my
favorite John Denver songs
(that I sang in my 8th grade Talent Show)....

Be sure to head over to Lessons With Coffee to read about more boxes of sunshine that were received and given, and find out how you too can be a part of this rewarding project!

In closing, I must send a shout out to Barbara over at
because she created the wonderful guitar "blinkie" that now graces
the signature portion of my posts!  I just smile when I watch the notes and the peace sign float out gently, and hum John Lennon's Imagine softly to myself!  Please be sure to follow her blog, Pinterest boards, TpT store, and Facebook page for more great design ideas, products, and freebies!

As always, continue to keep calm, teach your children well, hold a song in your heart, and share your story!  Know that I am sending sunshine and smiles across the miles!

Peace out....
