Greetings and salutations!

I'm Jennifer, a  dedicated 23-year "veteran" elementary teacher from the Midwest.  I have a profound love of children's literature and all things music-and-movement related!  Reinforcing rhyme, rhythm, and phonemic awareness are important parts of my daily lessons, and my Master's project involved researching the effective use of Reader's Theater in the primary classroom to improve student fluency and expression.

I've played guitar since the sixth grade, and my students know that it comes out of the case every morning after story time to accompany rousing renditions of folk songs and favorites like Down By The Bay, Shake Your Sillies Out, I've Been Working On The Railroad, and This Land Is Your Land.

I am the mother of two young adults, and consider them to be "my greatest work!"  My son works in public relations for the Detroit Lions, and my daughter will be performing in the musical version of
Fancy Nancy in Chicago beginning in January 2015.

We are a happy trio and enjoy concerts,
musicals, sporting events, dining out, and beach time in
Naples, Florida with our extended family during the holidays.

Given the year this "vintage" photo is dated, I think I might be the

oldest team member here,  but still consider myself a novice blogger since I only
started my journey in November 2013!

I've sure come a long way since then!
This community of supportive, helpful, and friendly
teacher-authors I've been welcomed into and embraced by has made me a better person and a better teacher.

Blogging is my first step on the road toward becoming a published writer, and  has allowed me to share what works in my classroom
in hopes of helping others.

Know that blogging about both my personal and professional life provides me with great personal and professional satisfaction.  Sharing the resources I create and ideas I
use in my classroom also makes me very happy.  It gives me a creative outlet after stressful days at school.  It reminds me of this very important lesson....

To express my gratitude and "pay it forward" to YOU for being a fan and follower, I've posted this
FREEBIE
on Teachers Pay Teachers.
Also, all of my products are 20% off through Sunday, Oct. 5th, in honor of this celebration!

I hope your students find this booklet
fun, engaging, and worthwhile!
It is designed to  encourage young learners to write imaginatively and to be a companion activity to a wide array of delightful
picture books!  One of my all-time favorites is this
"oldie but goodie!"

To celebrate our new collaborative adventure, The Primary Pack  is hosting a giveaway with tons of fabulous prizes!

Enter the rafflecopter below for a chance to win!
Hop along to meet our other bright bloggers and to grab a rainbow of freebies!

In closing, I'd like to share
these song lyrics from Kermit the Frog!  They most certainly sum up my grateful feelings about
being a member of this "Rainbow Connection" best....

Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what's on the other side?

Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
And rainbows have nothing to hide.

So we've been told and some choose to believe it.
I know they're wrong, wait and see.

Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Who said that every wish would be heard
And answered when wished on the morning star?

Somebody thought of that and someone believed it.
Look what it's done so far.

What's so amazing that keeps us star gazing
And what do we think we might see?

Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Thanks so much for stopping by!  I hope you will come back again to read, laugh, comment, learn, and be inspired!  Until then, continue to teach your children well, share your story, hold a song in your heart, reach for the stars, and color outside the lines!
