It is July already! Where did June go? I think it was washed away by rain, my friends! That.....and time spent shoveling out my classroom with the help of true blue friends who have vowed to transform me into an organized binder queen! More on that topic will be revealed in another post, but for today I will share my latest contribution to Farley's CURRENTLY linky party!
While this new month brings lots of new opportunities for me, it also brings lots of ANXIETY. I just keep listening to The Beatles "Let It Be" and reminding myself that CHANGE IS GOOD! My trip to Vegas for the Teachers Pay Teachers 2015 Conference is in SEVEN DAYS, and my thoughts are whirling about what to expect, who I will meet, and all the new things I will learn!
LISTENING~Catching up on current events and enjoying the morning talk shows is something I really enjoy during the summer. Cozying up on the couch with Rosie, sipping my coffee slowly, and not having to run out the door at the crack of dawn is such a pleasure!
LOVING~I rarely make a "to do" list in the summer. I try to just "go with the flow," run a few errands at a time, call a friend on the spur of the moment to meet for coffee or breakfast, and take a nap when I need one! I give myself license to be lazy, slow down, try not to move too fast, look for fun, and "feel groovy!" Thanks to Simon & Garfunkel for the philosophic song lyrics!
THINKING~I have three closets that are truly a mess. I've purchased three storage organizers to help remedy the situation. De-cluttering is indeed necessary on the next rainy day. I know that once the spaces are organized I will feel better, but for today.....I would rather read and write than organize!
WANTING~Pool time! Torrential rains and cloudy skies have prevented me from being a "lady of the lounge chair" this summer! The forecast for the July 4th holiday calls for better weather though, so my fingers are crossed! Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy!
NEEDING~A pep talk! Traveling alone to the TpT conference in Vegas next week is a huge step for me. All of the arrangements are made, supplies bought, to-do lists drafted......but my slight state of panic remains. I just need to focus on the most positive aspects of the trip--meeting and spending time with my blogger buddies--and stop worrying about possible lost suitcases, delayed flights, wild cab rides, etc. In the words of Junie B. Jones......I need to take some "deep yoga breathes!"
ALL-STAR FRIEND STATUS--I am a nurturer and caregiver. Loyal, thoughtful, and considerate describe the kind of friend I am. I often invest more time and effort into my family and closest friends than I do in myself. It is a trait I learned from my parents. Their circle of friends was small but mighty. People who were there when you needed them most,,, in good times and in bad.
So....there you have it! My rambling thoughts revealed as the new month unfolds. May your July be full of family, fun, and holiday festivities! The 4th was always a favorite of mine! We'd head to our family reunion in North Baltimore, Ohio where my Great Aunt Mabel would have scoops of ice cream from Dietsch's in Findlay for us to enjoy! My choice was always Butter Pecan or Mint Chocolate Chip. What's your favorite flavor?
Warm Regards,
I'm not really a fan of traveling by myself either, and I don't know if I'm any good at pep talks - but like you said, take some deep breaths and continue to focus on the point of the trip! Whenever I'm flying alone, I just try to give myself even more time than usual so that I'm not in a panic over anything, and I just focus on one step at a time! I hope you have a wonderful time!

True Life I’m a Teacher
Thanks for the calming reminders, Theresa! I arrive in Vegas on Wednesday, and don't have any obligations until Thursday morning......so if I do have a delay, nothing will be missed!

I'm moving so I've been purging and organizing while packing and it feels great to declutter and minimize. Have fun in Vegas, maybe our paths will cross!

Terrific Teaching and Learning
I will be on the look-out for you Destiny! You are right about minimizing! It is a good feeling to have more clean space and less "stuff!"

That's awesome that you have blogging buddies to hang with once you get to Vegas. I think you'll have a great time. Think of all the millions of people who fly solo every day - you've got this! Perhaps we will see each other out there. :) Have fun being lazy and carefree this summer. That's what summer days are for.
ReplyDeleteYou quoted some great songs in this post! :) I love me some Simon and Garfunkel! Best of luck traveling by yourself to the TPT conference. I would be nervous too, and I hate flying.....but once I'm in the midst of it, I realize it's not so bad.
