Teachers Are Heroes Linky

It's a bird!  It's a plane!  It's a sidewide sale at Teachers Pay Teachers!

Get ready to leap tall buildings in a single bound, friends!  This Wednesday, February 25th, will be a 28% off discount day over at TpT!  Be sure to use the next two days to leave feedback and earn credits!  Also, cruise through your wish list and move your most-wanted products into your shopping cart!
If you are not sure what to purchase, and need some great recommendations, check out this list of my top ten favorite resources!

I can wait to begin using these activities from Jen Jones at Hello Literacy to help improve my students' inferring and observation skills!  My group this year is full of visual learners that will enjoy listing key details and being and making important connections to the photos included in this collection!

If you are not familiar with  Core Inspiration by Laura Santos, you don't know what you are missing! I have my second OTES formal observation and evaluation coming up at the end of March, and I cannot wait to rock some differentiated hands-on mathematical thinking activities with these measurement activities!

Because I am a confessed "clip art addict," I rarely check out during a TpT sale without adding one new graphics set to my collection!  This club membership from Krista Wallden of Creative Clips will help me create handouts for a summer workshop I am participating in, and supplement some of my Magic Tree House book studies with graphic organizers and thematic writing pages!  I have never traveled around the world, but this great set of graphics will allow me to "make believe!"

Two read-alouds my class is currently enjoying are Adventures According to Humphrey by Betty Birney and Pirates Past Noon  by Mary Pope Osbourne.  Needless to say, my second graders are a bit obsessed with buried treasure, life long ago on the high seas, and talking parrots this month!  I just know that this thematic Math game from Sarah Plum is going to be a huge hit!

TpT sales are a great time to stock up on bundles that you've had your eye on, and I can't wait to introduce the variety of word ladders included in this one at my Working With Words center during our Daily 5 rotation!  Em Hutchinson from Curious Firsties is a dear blogger buddy of mine and I love her literacy skill products because they are thorough, authentic, and well-designed!

Laine from A Little Peace of Africa is another dear friend and collaborator of mine, and her store is a huge favorite as well!  She was the creative force behind my fun and new blog design, and her clip art sets are also some of the best in my cache!  This one just makes me smile with the fresh pastel palette, and reminds me that eventually all of the cold snow that has blanketed my hometown this winter will eventually melt... and spring WILL come!

Ciera Harris of Adventures in Room 129 has put together this delightfully innovative and seasonal set of context clue activities to help students develop stronger vocabulary skills!  I can't wait to use the pirate and spring-themed pack in the coming months!

Kylie from Ripper's Reading Resources features this set of reading response activities that help students participate in group book talks using her wonderful 4H strategies! These are going to be a great new way for my students to respond to both fiction an non-fiction texts!

I have been slowly but surely collecting these Mentor Sentence Units from Ideas by Jivey and enjoy using them to teach a variety of skills including grammar and author's craft using some of my favorite read aloud books.  If you are not familiar with using mentor texts, see her post {HERE}!  I am SO excited to attend her workshop this summer at the TpT Conference in Vegas!

Last but not least, Jennifer from First Grade Blue Skies has this superb Dr. Seuss pack that features many open-ended response sheets and can be used along with any of your favorite books during
Read Across America Week!

As TpT prepares to honor those of us that wear invisible capes and "come to the rescue" in our classrooms each and every day, enjoy this quote......
